The stories are printed on the same kind of thin, glossy paper that you find in individual comics, making it a bit difficult to turn a single page at times but this is a minor nuisance given the rich panorama the artwork provides for the eye. I bought this book for my husband after we began watching "Long Way Down" with Charley and Ewan McGregor. Of course it isn't James Bond and there aren't a bunch of thrilling car chases and shoot outs; This is Le Carre' - his Smiley is an intellectual spy (turned detective for some of the early books) and still a detective in the finest sense of the word as he unravels the layered on clues that expose the truth. I thought I was reading a short story from years ago in Redbookor Good Housekeeping. Every line by Williams is stamped with intelligence and sensibility, and his combatant’s view of the battle at Antietam is the most stirring in Civil War literature. This is an amazing book for the girls we adopted from foster care. Marcum tells a very good story, though. Great ideas and easy ingredients.
