There is almost a psychoanalyst's bent to Deighton's writing. This book was amazing, mind blowing, and heart wrenching . I felt like I really knew Nicole, Megan, and even Rachel and Jessica, but not Livie. Besides that, it was a great book, lots of inner dialogue so we know what each is thinking and how they are struggling with their feelings for each other. So this is a " know your audience " book. In this installment, she is shown in much more detail, with her motivations fully explained. I bought the book for its pictures; I read every word eagerly because the author is so knowledgable about the horses, the artists, and the place of horses in history and sport. The only problem is that this book has all of Cicely Mary Barker's stories in it so is rather heavy for a three-year old. With her art, she focuses on the creation of spirit houses using the four elements to create the fifth.
