This first book has to set up the background, establish the context, "build the world", which it does quite well, but it also does a good job of introducing us to some characters that we really like (or like to hate, or both) and which we enjoy following (at least I do). While your friends and family may trust you with their lives, you may not have that same level of connection with your clients; those connections will yield more work and consistent referrals. (Especially, for me, with "Secret Disease" which has to be the best poem by a man about menstruation. can't wait to find out more of their story and what happens next. All that said, I got this originally in ebook form when it was on sale. Enjoyed the series very much and the history behind the story would read it again and again, it is a good story. Also, I think it's fairly obvious that people considered to be geniuses in a particular field are simply those that have worked hardest to master all aspects of it, especially the gritty, tediuos details, not just the cool parts. I am an spiritual follower of Jesus however I have been always open to learn and improve myself.
