This is one of my favourite series from a very good writer and is highly recommended. Overall an enjoyable book with a valuable lesson. All sorts of things, silly or unbelievable, delightful or embarrassing, happen on this road trip. The author provides a standard overview of the history of the countries that are in this area, and what influences they have had from the rest of the world. Plus Artemis and Hadrian are such nice people that I could not put this book down until the end. I did make it through this boring read, with its cardboard characters and predictable plot. Many of the citations will make the reader pause and think about what it takes to be a "real" hero.
